acupuncture services

Acupuncture is the insertion of tiny, sterile pins into predetermined acupuncture points on the body. The stimulation of these points sends signals to the brain and central nervous system to release endorphins, promote local circulation to tissues to reduce inflammation and pain, and to put back into balance systems that have become unbalanced.

Acupuncture can help with many conditions including stress, pain & strains, digestive issues, insomnia & sleep issues, allergies, colds & flu, fertility, headaches, and more.

  • This treatment is for patients who are new to Roots to Blooms Acupuncture & Wellness and includes a complete health and medical history, thorough medical intake, evaluation, and acupuncture treatment. During your acupuncture treatment you will receive acupuncture pins and any other modalities suited for your unique condition and decided upon by the acupuncturist, such as cupping or heat therapy.

  • Continued care for established patients who have already had an initial visit. During your 45-minute treatment you will receive acupuncture pins and any other modalities suited for your unique condition and decided upon by the acupuncturist, such as cupping or heat therapy.

  • Even as an acupuncturist, sometimes what I love is getting just cupping! Cupping or gua sha can assist with relieving pain, reducing muscle tension, breaking up fascial adhesions, reducing inflammation, improving lymph drainage, and moving sinus or chest congestion. Cupping is performed by our licensed Traditional East Asian Medicine professional.

holistic skincare services

Taking a holistic approach to skincare means honoring and prioritizing the natural structures and functions of the skin to get to the root causes of skin concerns. This often starts with repairing the skin barrier, and adjusting each client’s skincare routine and diet.

At Roots to Blooms Acupuncture & Wellness, holistic skincare refers to the services provided by our licensed acupuncturist who has completed study beyond acupuncture school that is specific to Traditional East Asian Medicine (TEAM) Dermatology, cosmetic acupuncture, microneedling, face reading, and integrated nutrition.

  • Psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, acne, and other skin conditions can be difficult to treat with western medicine, often resulting only in symptom suppression rather than alleviation, and sometimes causing skin damage from topical steroids. Living with these skin conditions can be uncomfortable, disruptive to our daily lives, and even embarrassing. Chinese Medicine Dermatology works from the inside out to restore balance to the body and alleviate both the causes and symptoms of skin conditions. Chinese Medicine uses both internal and external medicines to address the root causes of skin conditions. Each patient receives a custom treatment plan and prescription based upon their unique condition.

Conditions treated include, but are not limited to: acne, alopecia, eczema, herpes (shingles, cold sores), psoriasis, rosacea, and melasma. Many stubborn skin conditions can be alleviated or greatly reduced when following our treatment plan.

  • Looking for a wrinkle solution that’s safer than Botox? Cosmetic Acupuncture is your answer. Our faces have 43 muscles that work together to form our facial expressions. We create facial expression habits and over time, these expressions become embedded in the connective tissue of the face causing wrinkles, fine lines, deep furrows (think of the “11” between the eyebrows), sagging skin, and jowls.

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture, gua sha, and cupping can release atrophied muscles, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, firm the skin, even out skin tone, and bring out our skin’s natural radiance without harsh chemicals or invasive procedures. During a facial rejuvenation/cosmetic acupuncture session, you will receive facial acupuncture, facial gua sha and cupping, and a cooling facemask, along with at home skincare tips to prolong your treatment’s success.

While I’m happy to perform single sessions, for best results this modality is best done as a series of 12 treatments over 6 to 12 weeks, with each treatment building on the next to achieve lasting results.

  • Microneedling is performed with an electric pen style instrument with a 12-headed needle cartridge. It treats fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, improves skin texture, evens skin discolorations, and enhances the effectiveness of skincare products. Your skin is over 2000% more absorbent for 48 hours after treatment so proper aftercare is essential. We send you home with the perfect aftercare kit to give you both immediate and lasting results.

Visible results begin on the first day and continue for weeks afterward. Collagen turnover takes 90 days, and as levels continue to build up throughout that time, your skin tone becomes more even and overall more radiant. Because of the rate of collagen turnover and timing of skin recovery, microneedling the same area requires four weeks between sessions. Results are greatly improved over a series of 4-6 monthly treatments and will continue to progress for months after your last treatment. Results can last up to 5 years.

We start your treatment by numbing the face with lidocaine cream and placing a few acupuncture pins in body acupuncture points for relaxation. After 30 minutes the lidocaine is removed, and hyaluronic acid and apple stems cell serum are applied as a lubricant for the microneedling pen. As microneedling is performed, targeted serums are applied for under eye circles, age spots and melasma, and to build collagen. The session ends with a cooling and soothing face mask. You will be sent home with a targeted aftercare kit and instructions for how to care for your skin for the week following your microneedling session. Proper aftercare makes all the difference in your microneedling results, and we strongly encourage you to follow our specific protocol.

We proudly use AcuMicro Chinese Medicine-based serums during treatment.

nutrition & herbal medicine services

Our nutrition and herbal medicine service appointments are conducted by a licensed acupuncturist who also holds a bachelor's degree in Eastern and Western nutrition. By blending food therapy with other dietary and lifestyle recommendations, herbal formulas, and exercise, patients have improved success rates with balancing and maintaining their health. As part of these services, we suggest recipes and resources for patients’ continued success in implementing and integrating our nutritional recommendations.

  • Acupuncture is powerful medicine, but food is even more powerful, and we can make better progress toward total health with dietary and lifestyle changes. This is an in-depth, complete, and often eye-opening consultation for an herbal medicine prescription and dietary guidelines. It includes an analysis of your current diet, lifestyle, medications, and supplements, and a comprehensive dietary and Chinese Herbal Medicine + Nutrition treatment plan.

This plan includes a list of foods best suited to your specific condition, foods to avoid, herbal formula or supplement suggestions, and resources to promote continued health.

  • Let’s meet online! This type of appointment is perfect for those who want nutritional and/or herbal advice from the comfort of their home or can’t make it into our office.

We will discuss your health goals, talk about your symptoms, diet, lifestyle, and supplements/medications, devise a treatment plan, and order your herbal formula (if applicable). This plan includes a list of foods best suited to your specific condition, foods to avoid, herbal formula or supplement suggestions, and resources to promote continued health.

  • Let us help take the frustration out of meal planning. Jessica will create a nutrition plan based on your unique dietary requirements, Traditional East Asian Medicine diagnosis, lifestyle, and cooking abilities.

The plan includes cooking tips, shopping lists, two weeks of recipes, suggested recipe combinations, information about your Traditional East Asian Medicine diagnosis, and which foods to include and avoid in your diet to cultivate your best health.

We will meet briefly to discuss your health concerns, review your medications, supplements, diet, and lifestyle habits.

Jessica will create a personalized nutrition plan for you delivered to your inbox in booklet form.

transformational offerings

Physical objects are different forms of energy vibrating at different frequencies. Humans are no exception. Our life force energy, or qi, can become tangles and stagnant. While acupuncture is an excellent way to promote the smooth flow of qi, other modalities can enhance or prolong acupuncture’s effect on the body, mind, and emotions.

  • Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of energy healing that everyone can use. It is a Japanese, non-invasive technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing. It is done with “laying on of hands” or without touching the patient. After a session, patients report feeling lighter and more peaceful.

  • When patients aren’t responding to my usual style of acupuncture after a few treatments, I often perform acupuncture protocols that remove “blocks" to their progress. Blocks can be recent or past trauma, latent illness, chronic illness, and anything that causes great fear or shock to the system.

Among the protocols I use to reset the body are three I borrowed from Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture: aggressive energy, internal dragons, and external dragons. Aggressive Energy balances the internal yin organs. Internal Dragons is used when a patient has something inside them affecting their ability to heal such as a mental or emotional block. External Dragons is for when a patient is affected by anything outside them, like an addiction or toxic relationship. I often perform these as a series over three weeks, with one treatment each week.

  • In Traditional East Asian Medicine, the ear is considered a microsystem that represents the whole body. The way the acupuncture points are distributed on the ear, it looks like an upside down baby with the ear lobe being the baby’s head. This is why when ear seeds, acupuncture pins, or even pressure are applied to ear it can stimulate that part of the body, reducing stress and pain, alleviating allergies, assisting with sleep, and curbing cravings.

POSES & PINS

This is a monthly acupuncture and yoga workshop held at various locations in the Lake Geneva and Walworth county area.

Price varies by location.

Acupuncture enhances the relaxed and refreshed feeling you will get after this gentle yoga class.

Our yoga instructor starts the group with guided, gentle yoga for all ages and abilities, then everyone stays in shavasana (lying on your back on your yoga mat) while receiving an acupuncture treatment from our licensed acupuncturist. The group rests together for 20 minutes while the acupuncture pins restore balance and harmony to the mind and body, deepening the yoga experience, then the pins are removed and yoga class ends with a prayer of gratitude.

Interested in hosting Poses & Pins? We love to travel! We have held our workshop in yoga studios, at a weekend retreat, a coffee shop, outside on the farm, in a hair salon, and at a dance studio. We bring sterilized yoga mats, blocks, and blankets for all participants, and can bring them to you. Consider us for a special event, new offering at your business, your next open house, bridal party, business retreat, family gathering, or just because. Inquire at rootstobloomsacu@gmail.com
